Obituary of Santiago Gonzalez

Santiago “Chago” Gonzalez, 78, of San Fernando, California, passed away on September 7th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones who remember him as a loving father and grandfather, provider and protector, and the most generous and thoughtful person.

Visitation will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home, Simi Valley on September 19th from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on Friday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. with Deacon Melecio Zamora of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church officiating. Santiago was raised in Atengo, Jalisco to Teresa and Salvador Gonzalez on July 24th, 1946. He worked as a custodian for U.S. Sales for more than 40 years. For many years, Santiago enjoyed tending to his roosters and traveling to his hometown in Mexico to tend to his horses and cows. He also received numerous trophies for coaching his soccer team throughout the 1970s to the 2000s, each of which adorned his living room.

Santiago is survived by his daughters, Belen Villalobos and Veronica Gonzalez of Moorpark; his son, Christopher Balladarez of Santa Monica; his grandchildren, Bianca, Ray, Briana, and Natalie “Nikki”; and his great-grandchild, Brielle. He is preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Lidia Teresa, and his granddaughter, Maria Elena.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Adventist Health Intensive Care Unit Team, Will, Phil, Evelyn, and Yuli. Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
