Obituary of Vaughan Allen Gunrud

Vaughan A. Gunrud, 88, passed away on July 30 at his home in Thousand Oaks, California. Born at home in East Foxboro, Massachusetts, to the late Harry (Halvdan Gunnerud) and Sally (Anderson) Gunrud. He graduated from Foxboro High School class of ’53 and then enlisted in the Air Force.  He was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, where he met and married Sharon Parker of Tucson, Arizona. They returned to Massachusetts and lived in Attleboro from 1961 until moving to California in 1976.

He was active in the Attleboro/North Attleboro Lion’s and Elk’s clubs and was a longtime Patriot’s fan. He was a 1970 graduate from Bryant College with a BS in Business Administration and went on to hold several managerial jobs in the home interior design industry both in MA and in CA until his retirement. In retirement, he was an avid gardener, enjoyed travel, and working on the house.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Gunrud of Frisco, TX; daughter, Charlotte and her husband Rick Ort of Merritt Island, FL; son Eric Gunrud of Frisco, TX; and his granddaughter Erin (Ort) and her husband Nicholas Straits and great-granddaughter Evelyn Straits of Portland, OR.  He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: George Gunrud, Evelyn Holmberg, Lillian Moore, Ruth Mead, June Gunrud, Nancy Leiper, Dorothy Huston, Carla Bartlett, and Ronald Gunrud.
