Obituary of Gilbert Jose Barajas

Gilbert, age 81, was a long time resident of Simi Valley, California where he lived with his sister Dolores and brother-in-law, Thomas Bibbs, Sr., where he sadly passed away on June 18, 2023, of natural causes. 

Born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1942, as a teen, Gilbert moved to Los Angeles with his family where he grew up with his parents, Charlotte and Hil Barajas, and brother John Barajas who preceded him in death. He is lovingly survived by his brother Robert Barajas, sisters Dolores Bibbs (Thomas), Jeanette Polizzi (Tom), Cynthia Barajas, and Debbie Lopez (George), beloved nieces and nephews and their children, along with cherished cousins and friends, near and far. 

Gilbert served in the Marine Corps and carried that service in his heart throughout his life. He was a staunch LA Angels and LA Clippers fan. For most of his adult life, he was a long-haul driver enjoying the open road and adventures along with his lasting friendship with BFFs and fellow truckers, Mike and Calvin. He loved to garden and tinker, but most of all he loved his family, especially, his many nieces and nephews. 

Please join his family on Monday, July 10, 2023, for a Viewing from 5:00pm — 9:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm in his honor, at Rose Family Funeral Home, located at 4444 Cochran St., Simi Valley, California. Graveside services are in planning and details will soon be forthcoming.
