Obituary of Susan Estella Wells
An extraordinary lady was sent to heaven on September 6, 2020, when Susan E. Wells (maiden name Susan Estella Doman) passed away at her home in Simi Valley, CA. at the age of 75.
Funeral service will be held at the burial site, Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068 on September 25, 2020 at 2:30 pm. Bishop Lindsey of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will be officiating. Everyone is welcome to attend the funeral with mandatory masks and social distancing.
Susan Estella Doman was born in Santa Monica, CA to Jack Leonard Doman and Betty Rose Davis on 7/11/1945. Sue attended high school at Birmingham High in Van Nuys, CA. Susan was drill-team captain and on the same team with actress, Sally Field. Susan graduated HS in 1964. She went on to earn an AA degree from Moorpark College in 1995.
Sue worked as a welding inspector for Rocketdyne in Canoga Park, CA for 19 years. She inspected the nozzles, which entailed the huge nozzle to be lowered over her and she would inspect it with a flashlight.
She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating, swimming, and waterskiing. She also liked road trips and loved Yosemite. Sue also loved to collect rocks and pinecones from places she would visit and has the rocks in both her front and backyard.
Susan had many hobbies. Her past hobbies were flower arrangements, making stained glass, and Genealogy. Genealogy work was her biggest passion and she worked at the church family history center until Parkinson’s disease made it no longer possible.
Susan is survived by her husband Robert Sydney Wells; her 4 children, Lawrence William Bean Jr., Adam Scott Bean and wife Lisa Marie, Joseph Robert Cookmeyer and wife Flor De Maria, and Karen Kristina Smart; her 4 brothers, Jack L. Doman Jr. and wife Donna, James W. Doman and wife Pamela, Tom Doman and wife Toni, Robert Doman and wife Rosemary; 6 stepchildren, Laura Powell, Robert Wells, Jennifer Wells, Christopher Wells and wife Jamie, Amy Hill, and Sara Wells; and 18 grandchildren. Predeceased parents are father, Jack L. Doman and mother, Betty Rose Doman.
We all love and will miss Susan. She has touched many lives. Susan will be very busy getting to meet all her relatives she researched and wrote about through her genealogy work.
